Harvest Time

 Harvest Time
Artist: Luke Bryan
Album: Tailgates and Tanlines
Released: August 2011
Written By: Luke Bryan/Rodney Clawson

There's peanut dust and corn husk drifting through the air tonight
The marching band's warming up under the football lights

There's tractor trailers backed up down by the elevators
Train track grain car a-rolling later
Get filled up and head on out in the world

It's harvest time in this little town
Time to bring it on in
Pay the loans down

Fill the diesel tank up
And make another round

There's a big red moon coming up in the sky

Combine's cutting in a staggered line
The only time of year
We miss the church bell's chime

It's harvest time

There's a thermos and a water jug
Rolling around in the cab
A set of socket wrenches
Wrapped up in a greasy red rag
Bobby's mother pulls in the field
Bringing us supper
We grab a bite and make sure to hug her

Saddle back up and let the big wheels roll

It's harvest time in this little town

Time to bring it on in
Pay the loans down

Fill the diesel tank up
And make another round

There's a big red moon coming up in the sky
Combine's cutting in a staggered line

The only time of year
We miss the church bell's chime

It's harvest time

At a quarter till two I kick off my boots
In the laundry room,
We'll start it all over tomorrow at noon
Till it's all done, until we're all done

It's harvest time in this little town
Time to bring it on in
Pay the loans down

Fill the diesel tank up
And make another round

There's a big red moon coming up in the sky
Combine's cutting in a staggered line

The only time of year
We miss the church bell's chime
It's harvest time

It's harvest time

It is indeed Harvest Time in my neck of the woods. This post is dedicated to the hard working farmers, everywhere I go I see hay, corn, soybeans, tobacco, wheat, etc... being harvested and hauled. Often, especially in the mornings, tractors and combines can be seen driving along the highways heading to the fields to bring in those crops.
Thanks for stopping by, I hope that you take a moment to leave a comment and that you head on over to Hootin' Anni's Thursday Theme Song.

A Day at The Orchard

A few miles from our house is Jackson's Orchard. It is a wonderful place to visit and purchase locally grown plants, flowers, fruits and veggies.

The fall season is probably their busiest time of year with Pumpkin Fest. It has become a tradition with our family to visit during Pumpkin Fest.

Here is the whole gang watching Allison play in the Tire Yard.

Lindsey and Shelby posed for pictures on one of the tractor tires while Allison sat on one of the smaller ones. The kids enjoy climbing around on the tires.

Allison had fun climbing around in the Hay Maze too. Although she wasn't quite sure about jumping from one bale to the other like most of the kids were doing.
I couldn't resist snapping a shot of the fence shadow.

The girls were taking pictures with their phones and I noticed their shadows on the ground so I took their picture. But then they began playing with the shadows. I liked the little heart they made. Pretty neat!!

One of the most popular things to do, is to take a ride down the Cider Slider. Allison decided she could slide all by herself this year.

Lindsey, Shelby and Cassidy had a sliding race. Looks like Lindsey was the winner.

Allison gave the Hamster Wheel a try. I think she was tired by the time she went down the track and then back.

The girls went back for another ride down the slide, this time altogether.

Allison decided to try a new color of hair.  Pink IS a nice color!

Then Hayley painted a wooden pumpkin, which looks really nice hanging on the front door now, and Allison painted a dinosaur, pink of course.

There are several fall decorated photo spots throughout the orchard. I had to get a picture of the girls in several of them.

Timmy decided he would join in on one of them.

We didn't ride the wagon to the pumpkin patch. Instead the girls decided to pick small pumpkins and gourds from the bins.

We had a wonderful time at the orchard. Before leaving, we visited the concession building to get some fried apple pies and an apple cider slushie. They are soooo good!! Then it was on to the main barn to purchase apples and some of the canned goods, raspberry pretzel dip for me!

I hope you take a moment to leave me a comment and that you head over to Hey Harriet to see the shadows others have found this week.

Autumn

Artists: Andy Partridge
Fuzzy Warbles Collector's Album
Volume 3 in 2003

Andy: “Another little half idea of a song. Recorded in 1985 as a
potential track for Skylarking. Just couldn't think what to do next with it,
so it got washed away by the mass of newer, more complete material.”

Autumn comes around,

But she don't have your face.
Doesn't have your style and grace.

Just throws leaves round the place,
Like you would have never done
Had you been here.

Autumn comes around
But she don't have your hair.

Far too keen to strip trees bare
Leave fruit rotting there,

Like you would have never done
Had you been here.

I happened upon this little snippet of a song while browsing and thought I would use it for my Thursday Theme Song. I have been enjoying the fall weather these past few weeks, with the cool mornings and tolerable daytime temperatures. It has been very pleasant.
I hope you take a moment to leave me a comment and follow the link above to see what fun others have had with pictures and songs!! Thanks Hootin' Anni!! : )

Teenage Daughters

 Song: Teenage Daughters

Performed By: Martina McBride
Written By: Martina McBride & Brett and Brad Warren
Album: Eleven
Released: February 2011

I ain't complainin'.
But I'm tired, so I'm just sayin'
What I think.

And if we're being honest
Than honestly I think I need a drink

My baby's growin' up.
She think's she's fallin' all in love,
And that I hate her.

(This Photo Courtesy of Lauren Duvall)

At seventeen,
She's just like me when I was seventeen,
So I don't blame her.

(I am the one with my arms crossed)

Do do do do
Do do do do
What are we gonna do ?

Do do do do
Do do do do
What are we gonna do about it ?

Remember when we use to be,
Everything they ever need.
We had them believing we were cool.

It's like it happened over night,
We're always wrong, their always right.

We use to be the one's breakin' the rules.
Now we're just mothers, we're just fathers of,
Teenage Daughters.

She rolls her eye's when I'm funny.
But she's sweet when she wants money and her freedom.

Oh my god, she's got a car.
Swears they wont go far,
And I wish I believed 'em.

                                        Their beautiful, wild and free.
Everything we wish we could be.

But their still crazy.
Oh you know, the make us crazy.

Yeah Teenage Daughters.

I ain't complainin',
But I'm just tired, so I'm sayin'
What I think.

If we're being honest, than honestly, I think I need a drink!

This post was so easy to put together. Sometimes they require a bit of thought and looking through pictures. But This One... was a breeze. I love my daughter dearly, but at times she drives me crazy, but then I suppose I do the same thing to her. Thank you once again Hootin' Anni for hosting this Fun Meme!! I hope you take a moment to leave me a comment after visiting and that you surf on over to Thursday Theme Song and see what others have posted, or join in on the fun!!

St. Augustine Shadows

It is fall break here, no school for a week. Several of my friends have hit the road for the beach. The mere thought of being at the beach got me to looking through pictures. So I thought I would post a few from our honeymoon trip to St. Augustine for my Shadow Shot Sunday Post. If you have been to St. Augustine, you know what a beautiful place it is and if you haven't visited there, I would highly recommend it.
There is so much to see and do there.

And, so many beautiful and interesting things to photograph!!

I had stopped to take a picture of my husband in front of the wooden school house, a group of men were walking by so I stopped to allow them to go through before I took my picture. All of a sudden one of the men stepped over to my husband, put his arm around his shoulder and said cheese. (he is the one in red) The other men were telling him to leave us alone, but he said that my husband needed someone to pose with. So I took the picture.

We stayed in the Casa Monica Hotel. The hotel was built in 1888 and was purchased by the railroad tycoon, Henry Flager a few months after being built. Flager College is just across the street from this hotel.

I love the Spanish influence of the buildings. The iron railings of the balconies made wonderful shadows on the walls.

The hotel offers it's guests rides around the city in this vintage car, for a fee of course.
I was more interested in trying to capture the shadows behind it though.

There is antique furniture throughout the hotel. This picture was taken just outside our room.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you enjoyed the pictures and that you leave a comment or two. Also, be sure to head over to Hey Harriet for more shadow fun.
