"A child of Music City royalty, the daughter of County Music great Mel Tillis, and a former rebel, she was determined to find her own way as a singer and songwriter — and she succeeded. A CMA Female Vocalist of the Year, she has written songs for some of the top singers in and beyond Nashville, including more than a few of her own hits."

She follows the path of least resistance.
(Barren River - Bowling Green, Ky.)She doesn't care to see the mountain top.
(View from Tram - Smokey Mountains)
She twists and turns with no regard to distance.
She never comes to a stop.
(Lake Cumberland State Resort Lodge)
Where she goes, time will tell.
Heaven knows, he can't go with her.
(Barren River - May 2010 Flood)
And she rolls, all by herself.
All by herself.
(Ohio River - Cincinnati)
He's headed for a single destination.
He doesn't care what's standing in his path. He's a line between two points of separation.
He ends just where it says to on the map.
(St. Augustine, Florida)
And he rolls, he's a highway.
Where he goes, time will tell.
Heaven knows, she can't go with him.
(The Road Home - Hwy. 185)
And he rolls, all by himself.
All by himself....
(Hwy. 185 - Bowling Green, Ky.)
And every now and then, he offers her a shoulder.
(Road accross Nolin Dam)
And every now and then, she overflows.
(Green River - Nolin Dam)
And every now and then, a bridge crosses over.
It's a moment that every lover knows.
(Ohio River - Louisville, Ky.)
(Louisville, Ky.)
(Green River - Mammoth Cave, Ky.)
(View from Tram - Smokey Mountains)
Where he goes, time will tell.
Heaven knows, she can't go with him.
(The Road Home - Hwy. 185)
And he rolls, all by himself.
All by himself....

And she rolls (and he rolls)
She's a river (he's a highway)(Louisville, Ky.)
Where she goes.... (where he goes)
Time will tell.... (Time will tell)Heaven knows she can't go with him .....(he can't go with her)
(Green River - Mammoth Cave, Ky.)

Beautiful pictures!
ReplyDeleteThanks a bunch!!
DeleteExcellent post and pictures. Pam Tillis has one of the prettiest, natural voices in Country music. My daughter is one of her biggest fans. She and her hubby saw Pam in a small venue last summer. Pam posed for a picture with her which she treasures. She said it was one of the best shows she has seen.

These images?!!!! Wow...this one once again shows how much time and work you put into your posts and lyric themes. Wow...just plain wow. Not only the wonderful, beautiful bridges and water [and skyline] photos, but they are just fitting perfectly with the song and lyrics.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe I'm saying this, but I think you've outdone yourself on this one!!! Wow.
we have a big river, then they built the road, but to cross the river, e have a ferry. They built bridges and retired the ferry. so sad.
