Never Alone

My Mother loved holiday time, when all the family was gathered together. Many Thanksgivings have been spent with our immediate family, my Mom's Sisters and their families, my Dad's Brother and his family, and my Grandparents from both sides of the family. Usually they all gathered at our house. My Mom would do the cooking. It was not only a time for us to be together but was usually our time to begin making plans for Christmas. There would be discussions about drawing names and gift buying ideas. It was always a fun time.

November is also the month of my Mother's death and my birth month. Sadly the two are the same day. This year it will be 20 years since my Mother's passing. She died of cancer at the age of 51. I will be 50 next week. I miss her so much and my thoughts are filled with memories of her more during the month of November than at any other time of year.

This post is dedicated to my Mother, Dorothy Ann Miller Lindsey.

  10. indeed a lovely tribute to your mom. my grandmother Ana died on my 14th birthday and I always felt there was a special reason for that. now I'm 42 and I've come to the conclusion it was her only way of being with me forever. we had a special bond. don't know if you ever consider something like this but it made me feel blessed and less alone. xxo

  11. Beautiful, warm tribute for your mother!!! Sad to have a birthday and the day of passing the same day. That is our situation here in a way also. Bud and my anniversary is the day my dad died. Bitter sweet is all I can think of.

Your mom was lovely, I especially like her smile!!!

  12. That wedding day photo evoked precious memories for me. My parents had a Ford just like your parents! To this day, we refer to it as "The Old Black Ford."

  13. I love all the pictures you have of your mom. It is sad to have your birthday on the day of her passing. I am sure your mom would want you to celebrate your birthday without feeling sad.
