I'll Take The Dirt Road
Performed By: Sawyer Brown
Written By: Mark Miller & Greg Hubbard
From Their 1992 Album - The Dirt Road
Daddy worked hard for his dollar
He said some folks don't, but that's o.k.
They won't know which road to follow
Because an easy street might lead you astray
I'll take the dirt road, it's all I know
I've been a'walking it for years
It's gone where I need to go
It ain't easy, it ain't supposed to be
So I'll take my time
You better make real sure you're headed the right way
I'll take the dirt road, it's all I know
I've been a'walking it for years
It's gone where I need to go
It ain't easy, it ain't supposed to be
So I'll take my time
And life won't pass me by
'Cause it's right there to find, on the dirt road
On the dirt road
Pictures:
The first one is my Daddy when he was probably in his early 20's. Second one is heading from Savannah, Georgia into South Carolina. The next three are some of the beautiful back roads that I get the pleasure of traveling daily if I choose to. The next one is the view of the sun rising in my back yard. Then we have a view from the main road into our community. Next is Atlanta Airport seen from the plane that took 45 min. to taxi into the terminal. Another view from a back road. Me and my kids. And, the last one is of deer, of course, near the roadway. (They were heading towards the road, until I blew my horn).

It's gone where I need to go
It ain't easy, it ain't supposed to be
So I'll take my time
And life won't pass me by
'Cause it's right there to find,
on the dirt road.
I have lived life in the fast lane
You gotta watch your back and
You gotta watch your back and
look both ways
When it's said and done the time we have is borrowedYou better make real sure you're headed the right way
I'll take the dirt road, it's all I know
I've been a'walking it for years
It's gone where I need to go
It ain't easy, it ain't supposed to be
So I'll take my time
And life won't pass me by

Love the photos, Jeanette, perfect for the song. Some beautiful back roads you have there, and a beautiful sunrise.
ReplyDeleteHard to tell with one B&W and one color shot, but does your son look a bit like his grandfather?
Glad you're enjoying Thursday Theme Song. It's my favorite, and I hope it's one of yours, too.

You have some beautiful back roads in your part of the country. The 45 minutes to the terminal is something I have done at the Atlanta airport too.
ReplyDeleteI haven't heard this song before but I really like it, your photos illustrate it perfectly.

ReplyDeleteBingo on the deer picture at the end.
Hugs Madi and Mom
I so enjoyed this one with all my heart. It seems to have "Anni" written in the lyrics somewhat. LOL
ReplyDeleteI LOVED viewing all the terrific captures you provided. AND especially the loving kinship of your father. That was a heart melting photo share.
