Louisville, Kentucky - - Home to Churchill Downs and The Kentucky Derby.
I lived in Louisville as a child and still have many family members there.
With it being "Derby" week, my song choice was an easy one.
So put on your Derby Hat, grab your Mint Julep and have a listen!

1981 Album: The Innocent Age
And raised in the trees,
Of Western Kentucky,
On wobbly knees.
With mama beside you,
To help you along.
You'll soon be a growing up strong.
(The Mansion at Griffin Gate - Lexington, Ky.)
All the long, lazy mornings,
In pastures of green.
(Neighborhood Farm)
The sun on your withers,
The wind in your mane.
(Neighborhood Farm)
Could never prepare you,
For what lies ahead.
The run for the roses so red.
(Gallop To Glory - Galt House Hotel - Louisville, Ky.)
And it's run for the roses,
As fast as you can.
Your fate is delivered,
Your moment's at hand.
It's the chance of a lifetime,
In a lifetime of chance.
(Painting in the Lobby of our Office)
In the dance.
(Painting inside the Brickyard Cafe - Franklin, Ky.)
In the dance.
It's born in the blood.
(Neighborhood Farm)
The fire of a mare,
(Neighborhood Farm)
And the strength of a stud.
(Filming of Bank Commercial - Bowling Green, Ky.)
It's breeding and it's training,
And it's something unknown.
That drives you and carries,
You home.
(My Daughter riding her Dad's horse)
And it's run for the roses,
As fast as you can.
Your fate is delivered,
Your moment's at hand.
It's the chance of a lifetime,
In a lifetime of chance.
(Display inside Kroger)
And it's high time you joined,
In the dance.
(Lindsey)
It's high time you joined in the dance.

My only comment about horses is that the one and only time I was up close and personal with one I was surprised by how big they were.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful collection of photos to go with the song! Well done!

Beautiful photos of beautiful horses, and I enjoyed the music.
ReplyDelete"It's the chance of a lifetime,
In a lifetime of chance."
I guess those two lines sum it up for me. I'm getting old and I've seen too many racehorses have to die as the result of their injuries — okay, I only saw them on TV, I've never been present at a race where horses were that badly injured, but even seeing it on TV it has happened often enough to break my heart, over and over.
But we all live "a lifetime of chance" so I guess I just have to accept it.
