Summer is winding down, but I still have a few flowers in my back yard for the birds and I to enjoy.
Most of them are near the trees where my feeders are hanging,
so they are in the shade most of the day and have done much better than anything else in the yard.
The Yellow Finch and the Cardinal are some of my favorite visitors to my feeders. They are so brightly colored and easy to spot from my kitchen window.
The Humming Birds are so fun to watch. I had never seen them actually perch on the tree limbs before. I had always had the stand alone feeders for them and the birds would feed and then fly away. But, with their feeder hanging in the tree they often perch on a limb. They also don't mind my being out in the yard or near the feeders, they still visit as long as I don't move too suddenly.
I try to capture them with my camera, but they are pretty fast and my camera often wants to focus on the leaves instead of the birds. I love it when I am actually able to get decent pictures of them.
I wish the other birds would allow me to get this close to them.
Sometimes when I am filling the feeders, they will hover right in front of me.
When I grab the camera they move near the feeder,
it's like they know and don't want their photo taken.

Beautiful flowers!! Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
ReplyDeleteSuch great shots of the hummers! And your flowers still look great - glad they haven't suffered too much!
ReplyDeleteLove the flowers....and those bird photos are super!! Well done, well done indeed. I so enjoy watching birds from my window too. So far, just hummingbirds, doves and sparrows. I'm looking forward to the migration...perhaps we'll see an oriole or two, and maybe...if lucky, a bluebird!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking up at the Bird D'Pot this weekend.

Have a blessed Sunday!
Love the photo of the yellow flowers. So pretty.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos of the hummingbirds. We have a couple that come around too, and they are not scared at all.
The flowers are wonderful - even as autumn arrives, the quiet colors and lessening ae soothing to the eyes in subject and shadow. The colorful birds stand out even in the shade, the male cardinal a favorite of ours (and we see a female cardinal in our yard too). The quiet beauty of nature is to savor at the end of the summer...
ReplyDeleteWonderful bird photo. I am going to put out me feeder today!
ReplyDeleteLovely series!
ReplyDeleteI think the hummingbird shots are terrific. I only saw a few around my Mexican Petunias but as you say...they are so fast!! Your flowers are still very pretty...mine are on their last blooms.
ReplyDeleteI think you did a fine job with the hummer -- and love the phlox. Mine came back after a 2 inch rain. Amazing really. :)
