made famous by Al Jolson.
Nile Rodgers has stated that these depression-era lyrics were used
as a hidden way to comment on the then-current
economic depression in the United States.
Good times
These are the good times
Leave your cares behind
These are the good timesGood Times
These are the good times
These are the good times
Happy days are here again
The time is right
For makin' friends
Let's get together
How 'bout a quarter to ten
Come tomorrow
Let's all do it again
Boys will be boys
Better let them have their toys
Girls will be girls
Cute pony tails and curls
Must put an end
To this stress and strife
I think I want to live the sporting life
Good times
These are the good times
Leave your cares behind
Good times
These are the good times
Our new state of mind
These are the good times
A rumor has it that
It's getting late
Time marches on
Just can't wait
The clock keeps turning
Why hesitate
You silly fool
You can't change your fate
Let's cut a rug
A little jive and jitterbug
We want the best
We won't settle for less
Participate
Clams on the half shell
And roller-skates
Roller-skates
Good times
These are the good times
Leave your cares behind
These are the good times
Good times
These are the good times
Our new state of mind
These are the good times

I didn't know this one. Thanks for sharing it.Your photos celebrate many good times. Love the one of everyone else taking photos of the photographer taking their picture. :)
ReplyDeleteI read the lyrics before listening to the video. I have heard this just didn't know the words. It was the beat of the song - you didn't care what the words were. And well, 79' was a long time ago now. :)
ReplyDeleteAn interesting pairing of pictures and lyrics. Nicely done.
ReplyDeleteSo very nostalgic!!!! I love the fact that you added some good 'old glorious days' of youth to this song choice!! Well done.
ReplyDeleteOh boy did this bring back memories. It was one of my daughter's favorite songs....she played it over and over and over. She used to take really long showers all the while the cassette player blaring. We checked the time on several songs on the cassettes when two were over so was her shower. Great memories of life with a teenager.
