1. The Wednesday Hodgepodge this week falls on John Chapman's
birth date. He's more famously known as Johnny Appleseed...
what's your favorite variety
of apple?
Hands down Granny Smith apples would be my favorite. Pumpkin Fest starts this
weekend at our local orchard, I look forward to getting a big bag of Granny Smiths more
than I do a pumpkin!

2. When did you last say 'ick'?
I can’t remember saying ‘ick, I am
more of a “yuck” or “ew” gal.
3. Do you think there's a generation gap? Explain.
3. Do you think there's a generation gap? Explain.
I suppose there is and always will be a generation gap. Life is experienced differently
with each generation and this causes us to view things differently. We express ourselves
differently in our music, our clothes and our slang sayings. Technology plays a role in these
things also. Not to mention political happenings and attitudes about them.

I know I don't see things exactly the way my parents or grandparents did and my children do not see everything the same way that I do.
4. What's on your computer screen saver? Do you leave it alone or change
it often?
Well two of
my computers, one at the office and one at home, have pictures from our
Disney World trip back in June. Even the wallpaper is Disney pictures - (Office is the Castle and the desktop is Yacht and Beach Club dock with Lighthouse in background). I change them every couple of months.

My laptop, however has a picture from last Christmas of
my two kids and the dog sharing the
couch for a nap. It is one of my favorites of my kids, they had no idea that I took it and even the flash of the camera didn't wake them. Bubbles float around over the picture.
5. If
you had the attention of the entire world for two minutes, what would
you say?
BE KIND TO ONE ANOTHER!!! This world
would be a Much better place if we all
treated each other with care and respect. Just like the Golden Rule says, “Do unto others as
you would have them do unto you”.

6. Four
fashion trends to try this fall are-brocade/jacquard (fancy
printed fabrics), peplum, lace, and
printed pants...which of these four
would
you be most likely to wear?
Well a fashion diva, I am not and usually the current fashion trends I am not too keen
on. I am not one to draw attention to myself with my clothing. I do wear blouses with busy
patterns at times, so I suppose the brocade/jacquard might be okay as long as the pattern is
a bit on the subtle side. Lace might be okay too depending on the lace, sometimes it can be
stiff and uncomfortable.

7. What
can make your bad day better?
Music!! It does, after all, soothe the
savage beast. Those who know me well can
usually tell if I am having a bad day by the music I am listening to, especially if it is louder
than usual.

Feeling old this week. My baby girl, my youngest, is turning 18 on Thursday. Where
has the time gone? I am very proud of the young woman she has become, but I miss having
a little one at home. She was, and sometimes still is, a handful but has brought such joy to
my life. From all the sleepless nights sitting by her bedside as she slept making sure she was
breathing properly, (she had a heart murmur and would sometimes stop breathing), the
never ending ear infections and surgeries (there were 3), to the baby pageants, the sleep
overs, the tom boy years and the dare devil stunts on the four wheeler, the stitches, to
becoming a teen and a girly girl, to dating, the nights spent talking for hours about nothing in
general, to driving, and to now being in college and on her own (somewhat), I wouldn't trade
it for any amount of money in the world. Happy Birthday, Lindsey! But what do I do now???

Hi! I love the dog! I also have a cute little dog named Tango. He's a handful but he's sure the nicest you'll ever meet unless there's a cat in the way. ;)
ReplyDeletehappy Birthday to your daughter. You will have to look forward to grandchildren now that your liitle ones have grown up.
ReplyDeleteHappy 18th to your daughter!! I turned 18 not too long ago and remember how awesome I felt knowing that I was finally 18. It's a magical number! :)
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday to your daughter. You're on the cusp of the empty nest. Grandchildren are God's solution to the empty nest.
ReplyDeleteI, too, am definitely not a slave to fashion. My standard garment is jeans and a Tshirt ... I even wear that to church (dressing it up with a plain Tshirt and coordinating sweater). Besides, I want to wear my clothing for more than 1 or 2 seasons (until the next fashion change), so I buy clothing that will last several years.
Happy Birthday to your daughter! I love the photo : )
ReplyDeleteHow great it would be to be young enough to have an eighteen year old child. Sigh....
ReplyDeleteThat is a sweet photo... and a very happy birthday to your daughter! our kids do grow up so quickly, don't they?
ReplyDeleteOur little girls grow up too fast! Mine are in their 20's now. And, I also quoted the Golden Rule in my 2 minutes to talk to the world. Good advice!
ReplyDeleteI used music to turn around day days too.
ReplyDeleteAhh - that's true for me too - didnt think of it - music can always cheer me up!!!
ReplyDeleteI need some Disney magic for a screen saver... I think its a good excuse to GO to Disney :)
What music do you listen to when you need cheering? I often turn to John Denver's "Farewell Andromeda" (Welcome to My Morning).
ReplyDeleteI just sent Starbucks cards to colleges to the sweet little twins I changed the diapers of. (and I said I'd never do diapers) I ended up much closer to my nieces than I thought I would. But I'm glad about that. But you're right; it was just yesterday I was sitting at a picnic table counting down the last five minutes when they were told to play on everything in the park one more time before we go home. Wow. Happy birthday to your baby; 18-year-olds are bigger, but they're still awesome!
ReplyDeleteAww, happy birthday to your daughter. It won't take you very long to figure out what to do with yourself, by then it will be time for grandchildren!
ReplyDeleteMusic makes my day better, too!
Happy Birthday to your daughter ... Mine are "only" 14, 11(almost 12) and almost-3 years old ... but I already think "what will I do without them" - and I still have them!! Cherishing each day!
ReplyDeleteAlso, I'd take an apple over a pumpkin any day too! :)
