Hodgepodge

This is my first attempt at Hodgepodge. I think it is rather fun and gets the ol' wheels a spinning.

1. In your opinion what's the most important job in the world? Oh, and parenting is a given so besides parenting, what's the most important job in the world?
Wow, so many jobs hold great importance. I guess as a child we think that the President has the most important job. However, emergency workers, doctors, police, military, teachers, and clergymen are all important jobs and these people protect us, treat us when we are ill, keep us from becoming ill, or help mold and guide us. Each one plays an important part in our lives at some time or another.

2. Share a favorite or not so favorite memory from a childhood birthday.

The most memorable birthday for me is actually my older brother's birthday. My brothers and I were playing outside. My Great Grandfather grabbed a blanket that was hanging on the clothes line and wrapped it around him like a cape. He then took the clothes basket that was sitting near the clothesline, a small round one, and put it on his head. He sneaked up on us and chased us around the back yard. We were thrilled and laughed and laughed.

3. Peanut butter-crunchy or smooth?
Smooth, it is more spreadable and mixes better with the jelly. It also is easier to mix into a Peanut Butter Pie as well as other desert recipes.

4. William Butler Yeats is credited as saying, "Happiness is neither virtue nor pleasure nor this thing nor that but simply growth, We are happy when we are growing." Your thoughts?
I think this is true. If we are on the road to achieving our goals, "growing", then we are happy. Even if we reach a goal we generally strive to be more and gain new growth.

5. What's something that makes you cringe?
I suppose there are several things that make me cringe, medical procedures with open wounds or the cutting open of a person, stitches, etc... When my son was little he fell into an electric fence slicing his face open. At the emergency room the nurse had me hold a piece of gauze that contained a local anesthetic on my son's face before they gave him a shot to numb it fully. I did that with no problem, but when she had me pull it away and I saw how the cut had gaped open, I nearly fainted. I could definitely not be a nurse or surgeon.

6. Name a song that always puts you in a good mood?
I can't really think of one particular song. I love music and most times music can and does affect my mood. If I am upset or sad, I can listen to music and my mood will be improved by it.

7. The answer is yes. What's the question?
Are you a proud Mom? The answer to this question would always be YES! I have two wonderful children, a son and a daughter, they are the one thing in my life that I have done right.
(I suppose that first question influenced my answer to this one with restricting parenting as an important job.)

8. Insert your own random thought here.
The thought that has been on my mind lately is Fall! I am so ready for cooler temperatures. This summer's intense heat has taken its toll on this gal. I just can't take the heat anymore. I tend to overheat much quicker than when I was younger. I am so ready for Fall. The leaves are starting to fall and I am beginning to see Halloween decorations in the stores. I am ready to make soups and chili, hang my Fall wreath, ready to start stock piling candy for the Trick or Treaters, ready to plant mums in my front porch planters, ready to pick the perfect pumpkin for Halloween, ready for Pumpkin Fest at our local orchard, I am just Ready For Fall!!

  8. I am with you on the cringing question. One time, my husband smashed his finger. I met him at the ER, and I was the one that almost passed out. It was even covered by the time I got there... just the thought is enough for me!
Thanks for stopping by, and have a great Wednesday!
(I loved your flower and hummingbird photos, and the AI ones as well!)

  10. Yes to everything fall. Well except for stockpiling candy. I'm afraid it would all get eaten before Halloween.

  11. You read my mind on your random thought. I love fall cooking! And the holidays and the colors and the cool temps--everything! And the heat is taking its toll on me too. Fall and winter skipped us the last time around so I feel like it has been hot for well over a year. That's too much heat! I could never be a doctor or nurse either. It's just too intense. And bloody. :)

  12. So glad that you joined the Hodgepodge today, and that you stopped by to visit me! I hope you'll do both again!

I, too, am ready for fall. The heat, humidity, and excessive mosquitoes are about to get the best of me!

I'm with you--I don't like cuts, stitches, etc. My hubby works in a hospital, and is fine with all of that--as long as it's not him! LOL
