I Miss Back When

Performed By: Tim McGraw
2004 Album: Live Like You were Dying
Written By: Stephony Smith, Jeff Stevens & Stan Lynch

Don't you remember,
The fizz in a pepper.
Peanuts in a bottle,
At ten, two and four.

A fried bologna sandwich,
With mayo and tomato.

Sittin' around the table,
Don't happen much anymore.
(2003)

We've gotten too complicated,
It's all way over-rated.
I like the old and out-dated,
Way of life.

Back when a hoe was a hoe,
Coke was a Coke,

And crack's what you were doing,
When you were cracking jokes.
(1992)

Back when a screw was a screw,

The wind was all that blew. And when you said I'm down with that,
Well it meant you had the flu.

I miss back when,
I miss back when,

(1976 -  1978)

I miss back when.
(1975)

I love my records,
Black, shiny vinyl,
Clicks and pops,
And white noise,
Man they sounded fine.

I had my favorite stations,
The ones that played them all,
Country, Soul and Rock-and-Roll.
What happened to those times?

I'm readin' Street Slang For Dummies.
Cause they put pop in my country.
I want more for my money,
The way it was back then.

Back when a hoe was a hoe,
Coke was a Coke,

And crack's what you were doing,
When you were cracking jokes.
(1991)

Back when a screw was a screw,

The wind was all that blew.
And when you said I'm down with that,
Well it meant you had the flu.

I miss back when,
I miss back when,
(1998 - 2000)

I miss back when.

(2003)

Give me a flat top for strumming,
I want the whole world a humming,
Just keep it coming,
The way it was back then.

Back when a hoe was a hoe,
Coke was a coke,

And crack's what you were doing,
When you were cracking jokes.
Back when a screw was a screw,
The wind was all that blew.
And when you said I'm down with that,
Well it meant you had the flu.

I miss back when.
(2002)

I miss back when,
(1986)

I miss back when,
I miss back when,

(1995 - 1996)

I miss back when,

(1987 - 1995)

I miss back when.
(1987 - 1997)

I heard this song over the weekend and decided that I would try to use it for my post this week. I enjoyed looking through some old photos and putting it together. I hope you enjoy it too! Linked to Hootin' Anni's Thursday Theme Song

Red Sky

Been one crazy week here with all the heat and storms. Our worse storm came on Thursday, with the most intense lightening I think I have ever seen. The electricity went off all over town, thankfully ours was only off for a short time, which was even more of a blessing for us since our air conditioning fan decided to burn out and had to be replaced. The house was very hot and was just beginning to cool down when the storm hit. Our internet and cable didn't fare as well, but the next day was up and running again.

As the storm died down I noticed that the sky was such an odd color, so I ventured out on the front porch. It was still raining, (as the white dots in the photos show), and lightening a bit but I managed to snap a couple of shots.

I don't think I have ever seen the sky this red. It was very pretty. Don't you agree?

Free

Performed By: Zac Brown Band
From the 2008 Album: The Foundation
Written By: Zac Brown

The video clip and the following words to the song are the "extended version" of the song. In my opinion this is the BEST version. There is a 1 minute violin solo at the beginning. I hope you will give it a listen and that you enjoy it as much as I do!!

So we live out in our old van,
Travel all across this land,
Me and you.

We'll end up hand in hand,
Somewhere down on the sand,
Just me and you.

Just as free,
Free as we'll ever be.
Just as free,
Free as we'll ever be.

We'll drive until the city lights,
Dissolve into a country sky.
Just me and you.

Lay underneath the harvest moon,
Do all the things that lovers do.
Just me and you.

Just as free,
Free as we'll ever be.

Just as free,
Free as we'll ever be,
and ever ---- be.

We were born before the wind,
Also younger than the sun.
And the bonnie boat was won as we sailed into the mystic.
Hark, now hear the sailors cry.
You smell the sea and you feel the sky.
Let your soul and spirit fly into the mystic.

When a foghorn blows I will be coming home.
Yeah when a foghorn blows I want to feel it,
Don’t have to fear it.

I want to rock your gypsy soul,
Just like way back in the days of old,
And together we will flow into the mystic.

No we don't have a lot of money,
No we don't have a lot of money,
No we don't have a lot of money,
No we don't have a lot of money,
No we don't have a lot of money,
No we don't have a lot of money,
No we don't have a lot of money,

All we need is love!

We're free as we'll ever be.
Just as free,
Free as we'll ever be.

So we'll live out in our old van,
Travel all across this land,
Me and you.
