Watching The Birds

This afternoon I was outside taking down my Halloween decorations and I noticed all the birds flying from the trees to my neighbors yard.

I grabbed my camera. Since there were so many of the birds I figured I would be able to capture at least a few of them.

I attempted to get a close up shot, but with so many leaves on the ground in my yard I wasn't able to get really close. The crunching of the leaves would scare them away.

My neighbor had mowed his yard and there were lots of little gnats flying around. I suppose that is what was drawing the birds in, since the majority of them were Robins.

While I was watching the birds, the sky started to get cloudy. I even heard a clap or two of thunder. I liked the way the sky looked as the sun went behind the clouds.

I ventured into the back yard trying to capture the Cardinals I saw around the feeders.

But again, the crunching leaves would scare them away as I got close.

It is funny that my yard is full of leaves with most of the trees having very few leaves remaining, but my neighbor's trees are still full of leaves and color. I love the bright red against the yellow of these trees, so pretty.

  1. The birds are almost like Christmas decorations in the boughs of the trees! And the burst of light from behind the clouds is very beautiful!

  2. The birds seem to be lining up nicely for the photographer - in the tre and on the ground, the birds are enjoying their visit to relax a bit and enjoy a tasty gnat snack. The male cardinal is a beauty in his scarlet plumage - keeping your distance allowed two great photos!

  3. I haven't seen robins here in awhile. I guess they've flown south for the winter.
Your backlit clouds are lovely as are the trees in their fall colors!

  9. Robins...we don't have them here in our neck of the woods [farther north in Texas they do...but not this far south]...so they're always a treat for me when y'all post robin photos. And cardinals are a favorite of mine. As for the other photo shares...I LOVE the Autumn foliage and the wonderful, inspirational sky!!
