A Song Of Inspiration

THREE LITTLE BIRDS

Performed By: Tracy Chapman
Written By: Bob Marley (1977)

One of Marley's most popular songs. The song has been recorded by numerous other artists. The source of Marley's inspiration for the lyrics remains disputed. They're partly inspired by birds that Marley was fond of, that used to fly and sit next to his home. Tony Gilbert, a long time friend of Marley, stated: "Bob got inspired by a lot of things around him, he observed life". "However, three female singers from the reggae group I Threes, who did shows with Marley, claim it is a reference to them. I Threes member, Marcia Griffiths, remarked, "After the song was written, Bob would always refer to us as the Three Little Birds".

Once again it has been a joy creating this compilation of photos set to music for my Thursday Theme Song entry. Plus, I get to show off all the little birds that are visiting my feeders and giving me the enjoyment of not only their pretty little songs but the pleasure of watching them interact with each other. Also, I am using the book I received for Christmas from my kids, which has helped me learn the names of all the birds pictured here.
