The Mississippi Delta was shining,

Like a National guitar.

(Gibson Guitar Factory - Memphis 2009)

I am following the river,
Down the highway.
Through the cradle of the civil war.

(Hernando Desoto Bridge - Memphis)

I'm going to Graceland,
Graceland,

(Plaque In Front Of Graceland)

In Memphis Tennessee.
I'm going to Graceland.

(Display at Memphis Welcome Center)

Poorboys and Pilgrims with families,
And we are going to Graceland.

(Entrance to Graceland 2009)

My. traveling companion is nine 15 years old.
He She is the child of my first marriage.
 But I've reason to believe,
We both will be received,
 In Graceland.
(Me & My Daughter - Graceland - July 2009)

She comes back to tell me she's gone, As if I didn't know that,
As if I didn't know my own bed.
As if I'd never noticed,
The way she brushed her hair from her forehead.
And she said losing love,
Is like a window in your heart,
Everybody sees you're blown apart,
Everybody sees the wind blow.
(Portrait of Priscilla & Lisa Marie in Hallway - Graceland)

I'm going to Graceland.
Memphis Tennessee.

(Gold Record Wall - Trophy Building- Graceland)

I'm going to Graceland.

(My Daughter Beside Painting Inside "Simply Elvis" Display - Graceland 2009)

Poorboys and Pilgrims with families,
And we are going to Graceland.

(Pool Table - Billiard Room - Graceland)

And my traveling companions,
Are ghosts and empty sockets.
I'm looking at ghosts and empties,
But I've reason to believe,
We all will be received,
In Graceland.

(Front Room - Graceland 2009)

There is a girl in New York City,
Who calls herself the human trampoline.
And sometimes when I'm falling, flying,
Or tumbling in turmoil I say,
Oh, so this is what she means.

(Billboard inside Trophy & Exhibit Building - Graceland 2009)

She means we're bouncing into Graceland. And I see losing love,
Is like a window in your heart,
Everybody sees you're blown apart,
Everybody feels the wind blow.

(The Lisa Marie Plane - Graceland 2009)

In Graceland, in Graceland,

(Check written for hotel and food while filming Viva Las Vegas - Trophy Room - Graceland)

I'm going to Graceland.
For reasons I cannot explain,

(Jungle Room - Graceland)

There's some part of me wants to see,
Graceland.

(The Pink Cadillac Elvis Gave to His Mother - Automobile Museum - Graceland 2009)

And I may be obliged to defend,
Every love, every ending,Or maybe there's no obligations now.

Maybe I've a reason to believe,

(Wedding Attire - Graceland)

We all will be received,
In Graceland.

(Graceland 2009)

My daughter and I visited Graceland in July of 2009. My husband and stepson were also along on the trip but they did not visit Graceland with us. So it turned out to be a special mother-daughter trip. We spent the whole day on the grounds touring all the exhibits, museums and house. My daughter was surprised at how much she enjoyed it.

  1. This was amazing...sending chills down my arms and I maneuvered my mouse to scroll through the lyrics. I'm in awe of the living room [never been to Graceland myself]...I think if I saw that, I'd be trying to figure out just how to get the stain-glass panels out and how they would fit in my trunk....I think maybe I'd rent a truck home. LOLOLOL

    Super excellent...once again.

    1. Anni, the stained glass in the front room was one of my favorite things. The blue and gold color in the glass stands out so much, especially against the all white room and the gold curtains of the music room behind it. I used that photo for my desktop for months after we visited Graceland.

  2. Great post and as per normal you pictures are better than perfect!! I'm not familiar with the song so I was glad to hear it.

Mom's favorite room in Elvis' home was the jungle room. I think I would have liked it too
