Take a Chance...

I Hope You Dance

Written By: Mark D. Sanders and Tia Sillers
Performed By: Lee Ann Womak

Her third studio album in 2000, I Hope You Dance, met with major success. The title track (which was released as the lead single), reached #1 on the Billboard Country chart for five weeks and crossed over to the Billboard Hot 100, becoming a major crossover Pop hit, reaching #14. It also peaked at the top spot on the adult contemporary chart and even reached the UK Singles Charts, peaking at #40. Both of Womack's daughters appeared in the song's video that year. Towards the end of 2000, "I Hope You Dance" won the Country Music Association's "Song of the Year" and "Single of the Year" awards.

I hope you never lose your sense of wonder.
You get your fill to eat but always keep that hunger.
May you never take one single breath for granted.

(My Son & Daughter 1995)

God forbid love ever leave you empty-handed.

(My Daughter & her Boyfriend)

I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean.

(Lindsey - Fort Walton Beach)

Whenever one door closes, I hope one more opens.
Promise me that you'll give faith a fighting chance.

And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance,
I hope you dance.

I hope you dance.

Lovin' might be a mistake but it's worth making.

(My Son & his Girlfriend - Jackson's Orchard 2010)

Don't let some hell-bent heart leave you bitter,
When you come close to selling out reconsider.
Give the heavens above more than just a passing glance.
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance.

  2. I swear...I swear....this post brought tears of happiness while reading and viewing and listening!! You did my heart good. The images you've shared are just so perfect, heart warming and filled with a prideful existence that can only be seen through a mother's eye!! If there is a way to score [1 to 10, 10 being the best] a TTS post, I must say I'd give this a 100 [and that extra zero is NOT a typo]

  3. Absolutely one of the most beautiful country songs ever. I would love to know how many 'first dances' couples have danced to it.
Your pictures are ALWAYS perfect! Well done,
